The Serpent with Eight Heads. Tokyo, Konunsha, 1886.
(150 x 100 mm) pp. 24. With 5 two-page illustrations and 5 partial page woodblock print illustrations. Crêpe paper, double-pages. Front and back cover lacking; first and last pages suffering folds and fades; some foxing; very loosely held together by original thread. Overall POOR condition.
This delicate Meiji-period book has suffered during its trip through history. However, many of the internal illustrations are still quite stunning and the survival of such a fragile piece of literature is remarkable.
