Gathering Sss terminates in a set of stubs which are integral to the book’s structure; 2 loose singletons have been inserted intentionally to accomodate for pp. 513-516. “Libr(o) del Conv(ento) de Montefaro” written on title page. Ornamental woodcut capital letter introducing dedication; carpet ornamentation; ornamental endpeice at end. Else, simple black initials. Includes indices. Handwritten marginal notes on pp. [2], 68 & on second fly leaf. Extremely minimal, fine lattice of worming on bottom margin. Some dampstaining to first several pages in margins. Text is well preserved, clear of defaults, and crisp. Paper support firm and supple. Title written down spine. Paste downs have come up and have suffered some shrinkage and crumpling. Limp vellum binding curls when outside of archival environment. Spine has endured some superficial damage to the top 1/4th, exposing sewing stations. Still firmly bound in original, contemporary 17th century binding with one remaining leather thong clasp. Overall in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition for age.
